More Meaningful Moments - Celebrating Generations - Place Card DressTM

 

I am delighted to share my proudest project yet! 

We have been working with a Spring 2015 bride who was looking for something special - a more meaningful option for her wedding centerpieces. 

 She had fallen in love with and ordered a custom Place Card Dress for her wedding and wanted to know how we could continue these meaningful accents throughout her reception.

Her custom Place Card Dress: 

Hand-cut rounded edge flowers in satin finish ivory tissue paper, rhinestone mesh embellishments and luxurious ivory satin ribbon.  Finished with personalized metallic silver printed chiffon ribbon and mini place card tags.

During our many personal planning sessions for her Place Card Dress I was touched by all of the special moments she had planned throughout the ceremony and reception with her family.

I suggested that instead of the traditional floral centerpieces, the least economical and echo friendly which die in a few days, I could create a miniature dress for each table representing the generations of wedding dresses in the family and bridal party - remembering the past while celebrating their future!

I received pictures of the 17 wedding dresses of the bride and groom's best friends, siblings, cousins, aunts, parents and grandparents.  

As each photo arrived, I'd squeal in delight immediately running to see what ribbon, fabric, embellishment I had in my huge stash of materials that might work to recreate that special dress and jotted down a million notes and sketches for the next shopping trip!

I will be making 2ft versions of each dress creating the loops of each flower a little larger than the Place Card Dress' flowers so that once the dresses have finished their role as table centerpieces, they will then be gifted to each special friend and family member as a gift from the happy couple and then be used as a special jewelry stand!

Each patented center loop on each flower can be used to hold earrings, bracelets, and necklaces!

A truly "more meaningful gift" made with love in the hopes of creating a "more meaningful moment" at that spring wedding!

More Meaningful Moments Monday - A Super NOVA Wedding - DDOTS Constellation Shadow Art Stationery

I was contacted back in August by a bride in California interested in our DDOTS Constellation Shadow Art Cards as seating cards for her September 13th wedding.

This would be a very special celebration - the bride and groom each gave up their own last name to create a new family name: NOVA!

The evening's entertainment included two telescopes for star gazing including the assistance of a local astronomer with the star theme sprinkled throughout the family celebration.  

I sent several samples to help visualize colors, finishes and styles.

The Table Numbers

Instead of traditional table numbers, the couple chose constellations that would be seen in the night sky the evening of their wedding to represent each table at the reception.  Each constellation was created by hammering dots to represent each star - the size depicting the brightness - allowing the light of the room to shine through each table number.  The classical line drawings and the name of each constellation was hand printed and embossed creating a shimmering, permanent finish.

The front of each seating card was made matching each guest to their table number including each hand printed name in metallic ink in a font coordinating with the theme of the wedding invitation.

The back of each guest card was hand embossed with the couple's new family name and wedding date - making each personalized constellation card the perfect wedding favor!

The Menu Cards

The seating cards' color represented the guests' chosen entree to assist the catering staff.  I then created special 5X7 menu card for the wait staff as a menu key.  Each hand embossed in metallic silver with the entree, wedding name and date.

A Virgo Birthday Celebration! - Custom Constellation Place Cards - Handmade by Dorana

A Virgo Birthday celebration!


I was contacted in August about designing constellation place cards for a birthday celebrating a Virgo!  

The guest list was a manageable 25 and after a little brainstorming we came up with the idea of getting all of the guests' birthdays and create each place card personalized with their own sign of the Zodiac!  

With just a couple of days to make the deadline for Canada delivery, I quickly "hammered" - LOL- through the order creating the stars of each guests' Zodiac sign constellation and hand embossing each hand carved Greek Illustration onto the cards.  It felt like I zoomed right through the task.

I began to practice scripting out the guests names and was tested by the uniqueness of many!  The resulting practice page created beautiful patterns.

The result was a very beautiful collection of unique names and oddly similar signs!                                        

 

I was thrilled to get a lovely thank you note from the buyer and photos of the birthday party!  

"Thank you so much for making our event so special with the place cards. Everyone loved them and it was great holding them up to the candles to make out the constellations. The colours went great with our overall theme.

Everyone treasured them and took them home!"
